Margaret Steele

	Margaret (Humphrey) Steele, 81, of 107 N. Mannering Street, Royalton,
Illinois died at 4:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at  Memorial Hospital
in Carbondale.
	Margaret was born June 1, 1922 in Benton, Kentucky  to John William and
Pearl (Butler) Humphrey.
	She married John M. Steele August 8, 1950 at the  Zeigler United Methodist
Church.  He survives in  Royalton.
	Other survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-  law, Earline and
Earl Cain and Stella Walker; a  brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Barbara
Humphrey all of Royalton; five nieces and nephews, Jon and Randy Humphrey,
Melinda Krueger, Betty Siefert and Lillian Rains and seven great nieces and
nephews, Melissa Krueger, Hannah  and Guy Dalton Humphrey, Alexandria
Justine Humphrey, Tracy Taylor, Stephanie Day and Lisa Cook and several
great great nieces and nephews.
	Her parents, a brother, Joe Thomas Humphrey and two sisters, Charlene Young
and Irene Humphrey preceded her in death.
	Mrs. Steele was a member of the Royalton United Methodist Church, the
Illinois Teachers Association and the Jolly Dozen Dinner Club.
	She taught the fifth grade at the Royalton grade school for thirty-seven
years and the Zeigler-Royalton Elementary Title One Remedial Math Class for
two years until her retirement in June of 1982.
	Funeral services for Mrs. Steele were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday,
March 6, 2004 at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton.  Burial was at
Miners Cemetery east of Royalton.  Public visiting hours were from 6 to 9:00
p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
	Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Steele may be made to the Royalton
United Methodist Church.
